On my Fb profile, I have a black and white profile pic of me at the beach. My cover photo is a club scene with a lot of colors(I love clubs and I don't want to have a pic of me as my cover photo due to privacy concerns). My sister told me that my profile looks kind of awkward. What do you think? Should my cover photo match my profile picture?

It really does not matter one bit. Are you trying to make it match? If not then have whatever you want as your cover photo. It is designed for you to choose whatever you want, so do just that!
