New Sailor Moon Anime in 2013! Are you excited? - Lavonne - 10-12-2012 09:50 PM

I can't wait! I've been hoping they would do this for so long. What do you hope they do differently this time? They said it would be targeted towards original SM fans rather than kids. Also, more like the manga, which is exactly what I was hoping for! Sailor Moon is trending on twitter so log on and spread the word!

I would be lying if I said I didn't smile hugely and jump out of my chair when I heard this news earlier. It's going to be hard to wait a whole year. Sailor Moon is what got me seriously into anime in the first place, and it's needed an update for a long time. I'm really hoping the remake is well done, since it could go so wrong in so many ways. I'm going to stay positive though. Many other anime remakes have been great, so this one may be great too. I'm wondering how much of the manga they'll cover. So many questions! Hopefully more details will come out soon.

The only thing that could make this sweeter if is all the origonal seiyuu returned.

You know I didn't actually think they would do it. But yes, I am excited. I have been jumping up and down since I heard the news. Which was two hours ago. It is going to be epic. Hopefully it will be closer to the manga then the original series.

So many people seem to be so pysched that it could not possibly be all
things to all fans.
Remember Naoko backed the campy live-action version, so her involvement,
or lack thereof,is no guarantee of success.
She complained that the original anime had too much "male influence" as
opposed to her "made-for-girls-by-a-girl" manga. I agree, but I saw that as a
good thing. Anime, unlike manga, better not alienate half the potential audience,
or the project will flop, I don't care how pretty they make it. Pure shoujo always
bombs with general audiences (at least in the West).

My advice would be:
1) Keep stock footage OUT. No chintzy transformation sequences. Have each girl transform in a flash of light, or something, but GET ON WITH THE STORY.
2) Style -- Let's have more realistic-looking/less cartoony characters. This means no sweat-drops, chibis, etc. And drop the Adam West Batman style formula used in most episodes, too. I'd prefer it if the youma actually looked threatening, rather than like human extras dressed in bad Halloween party costumes, this time, as well.
3. Voices -- Use actual 14 year old actresses, not grown women. Please?
4. By all means, keep the educational messages and Japanese cultural references. Those were excellent.
5. Music -- Let's go with all-new.

Sounds good, I'm looking forward too it. Sailor Moon was one of my first thirty anime, so it holds a place inside.
