That's how FB gathers information on what you like and dislike, and can more efficiently advertise and see what's trending.

the point in liking something is to let your friends know that you like it, to make them aware of something they may not already be aware of
at least that's how adults use it
kids treat it differently, they think that if they get more likes on facebook that makes them more popular in real life (they dont really understand the concept of facebook)

What's the point of asking this question? What's the point of living and eating when you'll die anyways? What's the point of using the internet, getting education which is useless once you die? What's the point of having a facebook when you can meet your friends in real life? LIFE IS POINTLESS if you think like this. Everything is pointless if you give it no value
