my Facebook contacts are getting friend requests from me that I never sent? - Cadi - 08-12-2013 11:26 PM

I have one of my mom's friends as my contact on Facebook, and she recently told me that she got two friend requests from 'me' - same name, same profile picture and same info supposedly. She got one two weeks ago and then one today.
It definitely isn't me as I already have her as a Facebook friend. my profile seems normal and I don't see any other suspicious activity. Plus it seems to be only her that received the friend request from me.
I haven't gotten any friend requests from any 'duplicates' of my friends either.

I'm a bit worried - is someone trying to impersonate me or something?

Thanks!

Facebook is fairly easy to get access to other's accounts, to be honest. Your simplest bet would be to change your password - entirely, make it completely different from your old one, and try to follow best practise for creating the password (e.g., upper and lower case, 1 number, 1 punctuation, at least 8 chars).

The URL to change your password will be this: https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=account§ion=password&view

Best of luck, if strange things continue to happen I would give Facebook Support a notice @ https://www.facebook.com/help/

Do you play facebook games? Like family fued or farm town or anything like that? Because if you do, they make you agree to a term that allows them to post as you. Its legal and its a form of advertising. I use to play that jewel game and it kept sending invites to people from my account, and it was from MY account. The way to get rid of this is to go to whatever game/app/or page you liked, then unlike it and disclose all agreements. Or you can email/call facebook and they can take it off for you.
