So if ive made my profile completely private other than to my close friends but people who are on my close friends are also friends with those that i don't want to see what i post can they see what I've posted if a close friend likes it or comments on it?

No. If you've set your privacy settings (like your status updates, photos etc.) to friends only, then only your friends can see your updates. Non-friends would only be able to see you in their friends' friend list.
