Create a second account and see if their account exists from that.

Well you don't if they blocked you from Facebook because it will come up as they deleted it but if you was inboxing them and you see their name and profile picture then they haven't blocked or deleted their Facebook maybe in unfriended you

If they deleted their account they would disappear from your friends list and you couldn't search for them. If they unfriended you they wouldn't show in your friends list, but you could still search for them not unless they blocked you then you couldn't.
