When you link your yahoo profile with your fb profile, you have the option to share your activities from yahoo (eg, answering, commenting etc) on your facebook timeline. Moreover you can search your yahoo contacts on facebook.
If you want your friends to know about your yahoo activities, then link it. Same applies to linking a twitter account.
