Its possible. If its not too urgent wait a bit then send another message. If you have another way (email, phone , in person) you can just ask them. Are you worried because she has not replied back?

Theyre probably just ignoring u.. you will know when they recieve it because instead of it saying sent it will say seen

if she isnt on your friends list, it's put into her "other messages" folder and she isnt notified about it being there
but she could just be ignoring it
if the message didnt send, then facebook would tell you that it didnt send properly
