Can someone who knows nothing about Online Marketing, Web Marketing, Search Engine Optimization Social Media contribute significantly within an online marketing company. Can one learn about these topics quick and easy. Please list some good resources!

I would join a couple of groups on LinkedIn. You'll get some good/interesting information in daily e-mails, and you can ask questions and get responses from people who are often experts in the subject.
There are also a lot of random websites out there. If you just Google these topics, you'll be able to find some reasonably good material. Try putting "best practices" after the term and see if that gets you anywhere.

Yes, social media marketing skills would really be a very useful tool. Getting a massive list of contacts is not so difficult these days using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and You Tube.
There are free online webinars which introduce people to these methods.
