Well I'm not sure what you did..but usually you can go to a friends profile and see the signs such as limited access to their account or not seeing them altogether. I dont think you get a notification if someone blocks or unfriends you so counting would be pretty hard unless you listed off the friends you once had and individually looked them up to see if anythings changed.
