When did the Democratic Party reform their Political ideology to Social Democracy? - Ben Artzi - 10-13-2012 03:34 AM

It looks like the Republicans have always been the Party of the free markets even in Lincolns days. So when did the Democrat party go from being the Party of the Southern Rich to the Party that advocates Social Democracy?

The way I had it explained to me is that after the civil war, Old stuffy Democrats became Old Stuffy Republicans, and the new Democrats in the south became a driving force for social change and reformation because of the Carpetbaggers going down there without regulation and stealing everything.
