my dad's cell phone keeps getting messages saying "so and so added you on Facebook..." but my dad doesn't even have a Facebook account so i think someone used my dads number by accident. Can I find them?

If you have your phone number on your Facebook account, then yes, people can find you by searching for your phone number. They can also find you by searching for the e-mail address attached to your account.
