I can receive direct messages but if i try to reply to them on my phone and it doesn't work. Even if we are both following each other it won't work. Each time i try to dm someone it says " An error occurred while sending the message." Does anyone know how to fix it? thanks.

Try to report this error to twitter, if you using their app.
Also try logout and login again, may be turn off and on your phone.
