it was friendster
before that it was yahoo chat, aim, and msn
before that, it was icq
before that, it was BBS (that was before the internet, back when you had to use your phone (landline, there were no cell phones back then) to connect to an online community)

there wasn't really anything before MySpace cept Yahoo and Google. you actually went out and lived
