Well, I mean obviously they are names of things that don't really have an exact universal definition.
But I would describe them like this,
Tumblr: A blogging website used most commonly to share images, where users 'follow' blogs they enjoy 'reblogging' posts from which then appear on their own blog.
Facebook: A social networking website that serves many purposes such as keeping in touch with friends, sending invitations to events, posting about what you are doing or thinking, and creeping on all your buddies/acquaintances.
