Will they take away my Social Security? - Z3 - 10-13-2012 07:10 AM

Now I know most people believe the U.S. economy is just going through "a bad phase" but I prefer not to be naive. If the dollar collapses, the economy will also collapse with the credit markets. The suits in Washington are already talking about cutting entitlements....if the above happens is my monthly Social Security check history?

Then your life will be shit,

I don't like to think of SSA as an entitlement because its money you paid into FICA and should be someone's right, They are going to extend the age to 69, I think, or 67, I'm not sure

There is no current proposal, and never has been, by either party, with SS/Medicare reform, that effects those currently receiving SS or Medicare benefits, or anyone over age 55. There is nearly $3 trillion in SS of the $4.9 trillion the GAS trust fund

The Dollar only collapses if Treasury bond holders start a massive sell off on the world market. Actually, Treasury bonds are more attractive right now. China id bluffing. Their currency is attached to the Dollar. They are as deep in it as we are.

The biggest worry Seniors and the disabled should have is inflation. The government is not going to admit or acknowledge inflation, because they have to pay higher interest on their securities.

I would sincerely suggest that you make other arrangements for your survival. Do not depend upon SS to support you in the future.
