this probably doesn't make sense but on Facebook whenever I like a picture or a video it shares it with everyone. it's really annoying.. is there any way to turn it off? thanks(:

There really is no way to turn this off. This is one of the ways that Facebook makes money. If you like a product or store, Facebook will sell that to advertisers hoping to get your friends to get their likes too. Even if you just like a picture or comment, that still applies because Facebook can't pick and choose which likes will generate money. The best thing to do is not like anything.
