when it was facebook in the early days it was put up at different universities. how did they put it in different universities? did they just get the server information and upload it? did they call up other universities and ask? did other universities call them up? how did they go about spreading facebook to different universities?

They sent emails to people they knew with university email addresses and then they invited people and word spread

I think you are a bit misinformed. Facebook was never part of a university, it was just a website that targeted university students.

Facebook restricted the students that could sign up by ensuring that they had an email address from the universities that they were allowing.

I believe it mainly spread through word of mouth; but there were obviously many clever methods of attracting users to Facebook, as there are with all websites.
