It was founded by Mark Zuckerberg with his college roommates and fellow Harvard University students Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes. The website's membership was initially limited by the founders to Harvard students, but was expanded to other colleges in the Boston area.

A man by the name of Gregory Thisis Alie was working heavily on what he could form to be a very large social network, considering he went to oxford his task was rather difficult, along with his friend Bullchris Jashitsin( yes I know rather odd names) they worked on formulas to build a proper server to run there begining stages of "BookFace" Gregory Thisis Alie thought this name was rather ridiculous and swapped the two words around to become what we now know as "Facebook"
