How can I trace the IP of a Facebook account and find accounts with matching IP's? - Jake - 09-02-2013 11:57 AM

There is a horrible account on Facebook spreading rumours about our towns people, I want to know who is behind this. Are there any ways to trace someone's IP like this?

The things they are saying are truly truly disgusting things.

You should report that account to Facebook, you cant trace the ip address. Keep your account safe by apply the security options provided by Facebook.

You can trace an IP address but you need them to send you a message directly so it goes to your email account and you can get the IP from there and trace it. It has been done to me, my IP was traced to my house! Best thing is to google exactly how you tace the IP. Sorry its not too helpful, hope you get it sorted.

An IP address is the location of a computer on a local network or on the Internet. The only way to obtain a user's IP address in Facebook is if they have sent you a message. The message you receive in the email from a Facebook message includes the IP address. If you have an IP address from Facebook, you can use the Microsoft Windows MS DOS prompt to trace it to a location. The "tracert" command keeps track of how many "hops" a message takes to reach the destination.
