I was able to search for them and when I clicked on the name, it went to the facebook broken link page. Was I blocked?

no, that person either deactivated their account recently, or facebook suspended it for something like them lying about their age or name, or creating more than one account

no you are not blocked. the account you are searching for were DE-activated or the Facebook may suspend their for violating the Facebook Community guidelines and terms and conditions.
