How do police arrest Facebook users? - Shinobi Kid - 09-04-2013 11:30 PM

Suppose a facebook user posts some pornographic image or post anything illegal in FB, will he be simply get reported to Facebook or will he get arrested?

And how will the cops know where to find him? And will these police come knocking at your front door and arrest you???

I had a facebook creep once who would stalk me and private message me illegal things ~ I contacted the police and they did nothing. They said that they were going to track him down and arrest him, but they couldn't find him. They didn't exactly try too hard, though. I would just suggest blocking this person and not giving them any more of your time.

yull just get reported to fb. if tht person keeps having numerous reports, they will be blocked/banned. if the problem isnt fixed then the cops are called lol

Depending on the nature of the post:

Posts on the internet are (or can be) logged to record the IP address that's used to make the posting. That IP address identifies the person's internet service provider. The ISP also keeps logs of which of their accounts was assigned that specific IP address at a particular time.

From the posting IP address, the ISP gets subpoenaed to identify the account that made the posting, While you can't be personally identified as having been the person who made the post, your ISP account can be found by the police. The account information at your ISP would give them your home address and phone number.

Yes they can. It depends on how severe the crime is. They can find you if they have a good cyber team. They can do this by locating the IP address attached to your account/profile/device. Every device uses one to connect to the internet. This is how your internet provider connects you and others in your area to the web via modems. So your modem has a IP address as well. Then your modem also has what's called a MAC address. This is the FCC (gov't issued ) address that is dedicated to the actual hardware that you were issued or using, Like you iphone, ipad,pc etc. However, most importantly the IP address dictates the geographical area in which the hardware is physically at. Then the MAC address will tell them what system you used - iphone, ipad etc.

Be careful, cyber crime is a crime. NOT A JOKE.

Why all this ip address and all that technical stuff?
FB is asking for your telephone number to send you a code to activate your account.
A telephone call by the police/courts to FB Headquarters in your country is enough to get your mobile number and contact you.

looks like we have sinner... I dont think that fb has a policy to ban pornographic content bt if u post any pornographic content then any user can report that to fb and fb will warn u for that... if u post again then fb will block ur account, there is no possibility that police will arrest u for that unless u post any pornographic content without its owner's permission (so dont try to post sextape of ur ex)....

Police can arrest you easily by your IP ADDRESS
