Well, I found my old 8th grade teacher on facebook and I would like to add her. She was my favorite teacher but I feel that it would be awkward to add her, due to the fact I haven't seen her in 8th grade and we have no mutual friends. Should I go for it? I mean I'm over 18 and shes not my teacher so there's no potential for her to get in trouble, but it just still feels awkward

Not at all, she taught you in school you go back. There's nothing weird about that.

Since she was your favorite teacher. let her know that and that you appreciate her as a mentor.
It is one of the things that can make her day.
