That happened to me and I got my friends list up to 2,000 (took a while) and I started to get more likes! You can also enable followers and make your posts public! If you only have 30 people you want to keep in touch with, it might be easier to just keep their phone numbers. Normally people have several hundred friends, and most of those people are distant acquaintances.
