How do you get lots of followers on Twitter? - kate - 09-06-2013 06:30 PM
I've had Twitter for about a year now and I have around 20-30 followers, I want people to see my posts. I know we all have to start somewhere but I can't seem to get people.
I post on the trends but usually they just get ignored. Any ideas on how to get more?

The main way to get a lot of followers on twitter is to have a pre-audience. I.e. YouTube. Try making videos, or creating a facebook page. Make people want to read your tweets! Make yourself famous.

You have to post about things that are interesting and use hashtags.
I don't have many followers, about 450 or so, and I don't post continuously but I do post pertinent things and I do use hashtags.
Think of Twitter as marketing yourself, and think of yourself as a brand.

What I do normally is I go onto somebody’s account and follow all their followers, because then you know they probably followed that person back and will follow you back. You can only follow 1000 people in a day but from that 1000 about 70% will follow you back. Leave it a day for the accounts to follow you back and then go onto a website that tells you who isn’t following back and let’s you unfollow them. Unfollow the ones who aren’t following you back, and proceed to do this the next day and the next and the next. So basically, youre following accounts and then unfollowing the ones that don’t follow you back.

1. Make sure your profile is complete with an avatar that shows your face and a solid bio.
2. Tweet well & tweet often and people will follow you.
3. Follow people who follow people that are like you.
4. Ask people to retweet you.
5. Search for tweets with keywords related to your topics of interest.
6. Use hashtags.
7. Regularly unfollow people who haven't followed you back.
8. Repeat your most popular tweets.
