Why did he poke me on facebook? - sabrina - 09-07-2013 12:15 PM

This guy I have known since grade school poked me at 1 in the morning on Facebook...I just saw him yesterday and he poked me just a couple of hours later, why? I hadn't seen him in over four years and all of a sudden he pokes me? Wtf? I have never been interested in him romantically but he is known to be a seducer and a flirt. Do I poke him back out of pity or just ignore him?

Also, I wasn't friends with him on Facebook until about a month ago when sent me a friend request....

Several options:
1. He likes you
2. He was bored
3. He wants to initiate a poke war (If you think this may be the case, poke him back now or he wins)
4. Check recent status updates of his, did he do something like break up with signifigant other or wish for someone in his life? you may have been chosen
5. I don't know him, maybe he wants to get laid. Although a poke is not really serious. Options one and two are most likely.

It probably doesn't matter if you poke him or not. I, personally would poke him. It probably wouldn't hurt anything. If he is flirting he will chat with you over facebook next, after poking you several times, and you poking back. If he chats with you, he likes you. I would deal with it then if the time came, because a chat is words and a poke is a poke. If he was bored, it depends on his personality. I don't know you personally, although judging by your correct grammar and elipses, you sound mildly interesting. Perhaps he just wants someone to chat with, not everything has to be romantic.

In conclusion, I would poke back. Worst case scenario he asks you out and that isn't even bad, I don't even know why I'm calling it worst. Then you can choose whether to say yes or not. Yet, remember, you might just be interesting.
