My girlfriend has accepted it, and I've sent it but shouldn't it show up on your timeline? To the right of your profile picture ? It just says the basic stuff, but when I click the about it shows up there.
On other people's walls it says in a relationship with etc...

Goto her profile.at cover photo there is a tab "Friends".Click it and u will have options like unfriend,Close friends etc.

you have to click something to see the about section? (or maybe you are using your phone?)
facebook moved it to the about section, but when i look at other peoples' profiles, i dont have to click anything to see it
