Facebook: Was this a phishing attempt on my account? - Happy Girl 20 - 11-08-2013 01:25 AM

A few days ago, I got this message on my Facebook homepage:
"Our systems have detected that (my email address) is no longer an active contact email. Facebook requires all users to maintain an active contact email. Please confirm your email address."
My email address and password have always worked fine.
Then after changing my password,I got another message saying something about a phishing attempt on my Facebook account.
Has anyone else ever got this on their Facebook? Genuine answers only please. Thanks.

The 1st message wasn't real it took you to a webpage that looked like facebook but was a scam where it tried to get you to reset your password/email to steal the information

Phishing is totally different and should not be related to this at ALL. Phishing means a fake login page where you login with your credentials and this is stolen by the hacker. But as you mentioned, even though the report states about phishing, it's clearly not a case of phishing.

Coming to the problem, check if you typed in your email correctly. If so, next confirm that your email is working properly and is up. You can do so by sending a email to that account concerned from another email address. If it returns a negative error message, hmm, that's the problem. Else, it is bound to be working good.

Facebook UI changes has resulted in bugs. Don't worry, it should automatically fix itself. Repeating again, just check your e-mail account.

All the best,
Coder007.

Nope never seen it.

Probably due to the fact I would NEVER use the FB email address.

Especially when they dictate to me what it will be and changing my original one
without even bothering to ask me in the first place!
