Is it actually possible to delete your facebook account? - Jen - 11-08-2013 11:34 PM

I don't see the option, does your account just stay there forever.

Your account can only be 'deactivated', this is just so you can reactivate your account later should you change your mind. It won't show up in search results and your entry on your friend's list will just say 'deactivated account' (this is so the friend status can be reclaimed should you come back).

If you're truly sure you want rid of it, the best you can do is manually delete everything from your FB page: Posts, pictures, info, EVERYTHING; then deactivate your account. It's a tedious pain, but they made it so that's the only way.

Go onto 'account settings' and then 'privacy settings' and at the bottom, in small print there is a 'deactivate your account'. It will then ask you why you're deleting it and if you click "This is only temporary, I'll be back" then its not permanent (basically just logging out) but any of the other options permanently delete your account.
