Keeping my Moms terminal illness off Facebook? - Jesse - 11-13-2013 02:41 AM

We found out Tuesday that my Mom has 8-12wks to live. She has terminal cancer and will be lucky to make it to Christmas. Wednesday my Mom told my Grandma the news and let her tell her 6 siblings. My mother has asked that none of this be put on facebook, she would rather it stay private and just a family matter. I need some sample wording of how to compose this into a facebook message that I can send my Aunts, Uncles, and cousins (all of which live out of state, all across the country). They know what is going on, but not to keep it off facebook. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

I would simply call them and inform them by mouth. Anything you type on facebook could come back to you. Writing is permanent and so is anything online. I would call, it is the safest way.

Once you post it in any form on Facebook someone will post it in an open way on their wall. Regardless of what you do someone will go against your mother's wishes.

Your best way is phone or private email. Don't be surprised when people ignore you & post anyway.

How about send them a private message? That would be the best way to do it if you really can't talk to them any other way.
