When u post : it means u just posted an object from ur own... But if u want to promote it or if u want that thing to go more people u have to share it... It gives the link on ur timeline when u share some thing of ur friend but when u click on the main image it will take u to the orignal one .

Posting is something you put up. Sharing is re-posting someone else's post.
