how do you tag a friend in a status update or in a comment to make the name appear blue and clickable. I tried using the ''@' symbol but it aint workin'

You can either just try to write your friend first name (with or without @, but without space between the @ and the first name) and wait for FB to pop-up full names in blue background with that first name, click which is who you want to tag. Sometimes FB just don't show that pop-up, in that case, try again later.

Start typing their name using a Capital letter at the beginning. Then something should come up with a list of friends names beginning with the letter you typed in. You need to select from the list the person you want to tag in the status. all done
