Whenever someone i follow on twitter or instagram posts something is there an app or something that will give me a notification right when it happens so it pops up on my phone?

Yes.
1. Open your Twitter App on your iPhone.
2. Touch the "Me" button at the bottom right. (You should see Home, Connect, Discover, Me.)
3. Touch the Gear button to enter your Settings. (It's under the number of Tweets you have made.)
4. Touch "Settings".
5. Touch "Notifications".
6. Touch "Tweets".
7. Switch "Tweets" to ON.
8. Go to the person's profile whom you wish to be notified.
9. Touch the Icon that looks like a person (under the number of tweets they've made).
10. Touch "Turn On Notifications"
How do you wish to see the Notifications on your phone?
1. Go to the settings app on your phone.
2. Select "Notifications"
3. Select "Twitter"
4. Make sure Notification is switched to ON
5. Select the type of Alert Style you wish to receive (either Banners or Alerts, but not None.)
