His mark went down in history, hence the line you'll go down in history.

Terrible!
That's Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and if you remember the lyrics to the song "You'll go down in History". He's gone from a B+ to a D, so he's 'gone down in history' alright.

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
had a very shiny nose.
And if you ever saw him,
you would even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer
used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Rudolph
join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say:
"Rudolph with your nose so bright,
won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Then all the reindeer loved him
as they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,
you'll go down in history!

The pun refers to the final line of the traditional Christmas song "Rudolph the Red Nose Raindeer". The line is "You'll go down in history".
As you can see on the report card, the marks for all the deer's subjects have remained the same - except for History, which has gone down. Hence the pun.
