hashtags in Twitter are to trend something or just for fun,
hashtags in Facebook are people being retarded, they don't do anything there.

Don't quote me on this, as I don't use facebook nor twitter, but, I believe in the use of twitter they're used to 'group' posts, so, say I type:-
This is awesome #schoolday
On twitter, that means anyone can search for just items containing the hashtag "schoolday", if I am correct, I'm pretty sure it'd mainly be used by companies to track their popularity, such as #google or #yahoo.

tag is refer to a list of friends we have in our Twitter or Facebook friends.... it some times used as refernce to others....
