If I try to get to the actual facebook page the screen goes white and when I do get through whenever I click something it says "something went wrong try again".

Try using a different Internet browser- Mozilla Firefox, or google chrome.
If that doesn't fix the issue the may either be a issue with Internet, or Facebook may temporarily have a problem.

try to clean your cache, cookies, history or reinstall your browser
