My friend has a Nokia phone and uses it to message on FB...the icon/map beside the message shows the location to be actually about 120 miles off from where he actually is. Why is it so off and is there a way to fix this?

FB notorious faulty in determine location, partly due to tower bouncing amongst & within phones providers.
You can try to place the location yourself in where your residence now in About, or on the bottom of your update status box, click the icon that look like water drop. Try it one at a time to see the effect.
