Vector Marketing a scam...how do i back out? - cool dude - 10-13-2012 02:36 PM
So i got "hired" at vector marketing at one of their offices in houston and i was really enjoying it but one of my relatives found out that it was a scam. He told me to stop going and to ignore all their phone calls. I then realized i gave them my social security number and everything like that about myself. Im not sure what to do now or how to get it back and i need help. Hopefully im not screwed.

Just quit. There is no way you're going to get rid of their copies of your info.

I would just go ahead and quit , there's nothing wrong with it!
It is, in fact, a scam, and you shouldn't feel obligated to stay in it at all.
And given that they deceived you, I wouldn't worry about just quitting and leaving...they can't make you stay!

Hi, it's not technically a scam. Is this the program where they have you sell Cutco knives? If so a friend of mine here in SC did it while she was a student in college for a marketing degree and it was a good resume booster for her. I think she did it about 6 months. Basically, yes you will be asked to sell to your family and friends, but the knives are actually quality and have a lifetime replacement guarantee. Also, yes you do have to buy your own set of demonstration knives, but they tell you this upfront as well. You get about $16-17 per conducted appt and a certain percentage of what you sell. If you want to quit it shouldn't be a problem. They're not going to steal your SSN, they are a real employer and the job might suck, but they are not going to do anything bad with your info. Just tell them you don't want to do it and they won't bother you! Good luck and I know you'll find a job that's a lot easier than that one!

People that call network / peer-to-peer / multilevel style marketing a scam is lazy. You can make money at this. However, it is a lot of work. There are many a student who did well in this early in their career and moved on. Others, like Mary Kay lifers, have done very well selling this way. The choice is yours.
