It's been a problem for me for days and of course I can't find any way to contact facebook about it. Starting to get really aggravated :/

It's still working for me. Have you check the sound is still on in
https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=notifications§ion=on_facebook&view.
Otherwise, just wait for Facebook to fix it.
