I just started a page. It has 11 likes and 9 talking about this. I know what the likes mean, obviously, but what does it mean to say someone is talking about this?

It Means They Are Talking about your Page on Facebook

It means that 9 people have mentioned your page in a status or message or something "Hey dude check out this new page _______ its got some good stuff"

"Talking about this" is the number of people who have created some kind of news story from your page posts.
Usually it's people who commented on your posts, liked them or shared them.
They can also have been responding to questions you posted, claiming your offers or responding to your events, if you have any of those.
