I want to block a family member but I don't want them to know.

yes. when you block that person, it'll be impossible for that person to glance through profile and won't know u've blocked him or her.

no.. the person will always be able to see
the person whom you will block will either see that you have deactivated your own account or will think that you have blocked him or her
he or she .. will see an empty profile picture of your profile
