it shows a person with 784 followers, me being one. I never tried to follow this person on facebook, now theres no link to unfollow them. maybe my account is corrupted. maybe a virus on my pc. regardless, a full recovery of factory default software will not fix a messed up facebook page will it?

No It will Not Because it Has Something to Do With Facebook Not your Computer Factory Default Only Works With Problems On your Computer Not The Internet To Unfollow them Go to your Followers List Find That Person Click on Following Than Unfollow

yeah friend you have done the correct work.Many of the people has to show the fake information to impress the another people.
