On facebook, can you see a message without 'seeing' it? - kyle - 11-26-2013 02:49 PM

Like, on your phone or laptop or whatever, can you see youve either been messaged by a certain person, and not open it in messages? Or like, can you open your messages, not click on the specific conversation to 'see' it? Basically, what do you need to do to actually 'see' a message on facebook?

If it's not too long the whole message will appear in your email alert

Yes! simply click on the message icon but don't click on the message, disconnect from wifi or 3g/4g.

If you click the notification icon on the Messages icon then you can see who your new message is from and the person will not be notified that you've seen it. However, if you click into the actual message it will say it has been "seen" by you.

On the app, if you have the facebook message notifications [for the facebook app not the facebook messaging app], you can preview part of the message in the top notification bar of your phone. If you view this, the message might not appear as read, but apart from that I don't know any other way of seeing it without it being 'read'. I think you need to be on the actual app that shows the full version of the message for it to be 'seen' to the other person. Sorry if that didn't make sense..

I hope I helped. =-c
