No. The Onion is a fictitious news source. Basically, they make up random stories for humor purposes.

Look at the date. August 23rd 2000, calm down!

Bill Nye is not dead. I did a search and found that his death is a hoax.

Don't be so gullible.

No, he's not dead. It was just a hoax. Haha.

- Henry c - 10-13-2012 04:43 PM

No, death hoax.

- Mach Pilot - 10-13-2012 04:43 PM

No I don't think so. It is just a rumor. Tweeted rumors. They said that he was doing some vinegar-baking soda experiment and then an explosion occurred and said that killed him. He's not actually dead, but maybe wounded.

- Amberilla - 10-13-2012 04:43 PM

He is alive.

- 182crazyking - 10-13-2012 04:43 PM

Rest assured that Bill Nye is alive and well. On Twitter, certain people got upset about a video that he recently made where he expresses his views on creationism (he doesn't believe in it, and urges parents not to introduce the idea to their children). From there, the rumor took off thanks to people with poor fact-checking skills.

Nye himself actually posted a picture of himself on his Twitter that read, "Alive & at JPL press conf."
