Someone stealing my photos on instagram?!? - Imogen - 11-29-2013 06:05 AM

Someone is stealing my photos that I took on instagram and putting them on their account. Has instagram got an email address so I can contact them about this? I've reported them, what else can I do? Please help me!

Nothing if you've not got you're photos on private. Try an get as many people as you can to report it, the more means the sooner Instagram will look into it.

Add a watermark to your photos to deter theft of photos.

As soon as you post photographs on a social media site ownership becomes public.

This isn't stealing because you posted the photos publicly without a copyright. Anyone can copy your photos and use them however they want. You could report this person all you want, but nothing will be done since you are the one who posted the pictures without full right of ownership.

Also, if you read Instagram's privacy policy, you will see that they, too, have the right to sell your photos to advertisers and they don't have to pay you one red cent for them (see article, below).

What you can do is before you post, edit them in PhotoShop or Paint to put your name and date somewhere on the photo.

Whatever you do, you can't be sure that your photos won't be used by others. The only way to make sure this doesn't happen is to not post them.
