I'm trying to learn how to use Instagram, i know it's popular and stuff, all my friends use it so i feel a little left behind...
Basically if i were to take a photo on Instagram then it gets automatically posted on Facebook OR does it ask me for permission first if i want the photo on FB?.... I just looked on my Facebook and just like that i've now got an Instagram album on FB, i don't know how that got there, i never even asked for that but it's there, maybe that's the only way Instagram works, if it's working side-by-side with Facebook? i'm not sure

Nope, it ain't true. You get to choose whether you want to share them somewhere else or not.

No, that's not true unless you choose to by clicking "Share" on Facebook before uploading it.
It does not work side by side with Facebook and the reason you have an Instagram album on Facebook is because you clicked "Share" on Facebook. While uploading a picture on Instagram, just chose you're filter and fill in a caption and share it without clicking anything else. This way you're pictures won't get posted on Facebook.

Only If you Connect your Facebook Account With instagram and Set it up So That it Does That
