Yes, it is a social network. Some people use it as a fandom site and will make accounts where all they do is like and comment on fandom based pages, but I don't think that really is the point, and this kind of content really shouldn't be allowed.

No... It's way better to have their names. People will be able to find you more easily with their actual names.

Actual names , but not necessarily the full name, but read carefully and adjust your privacy settings to whom can see your profile details.
