The "Beta" usually means that the feature i.e. the pirate language is still under development so the developers are just testing it out before officially releasing it to Facebook. The focus of beta testing is reducing impacts to users, often incorporating usability testing(Beta testing). The process of delivering a beta version to the users is called beta release and this is typically the first time that the software or the feature is available outside of the organization that developed it. So the beta version may be for a limited time period before the official version comes out.
