Is it just iPhones that can do it? All my friends who make the videos have an iphone but I got a droid, I updated it just today and when I hit the blue camera button a video option still doesn't show up.

Yes, the new update of instagram allows both iOS & Android devices to make videos.
Check if your android is version 4.0 or not because android V 4.0 or more can do it.
