If you change your name on Facebook and block someone? - SilvieA - 12-05-2013 04:14 AM

I want someone who I previously messaged on Facebook to not be able to see me anymore and although he will have our conversation in his inbox, I don't want my name to show.
If I change my name to "Facebook User", then block him, and then change it BACK to my real name, what will he see? I will block him when I change it to Facebook User but when I change it back what name will show up in bold letters in his inbox in our messages?
No our conversation won't be deleted unfortunately, I wish but it won't. He will still be able to open it, he just can't message me or see my picture.

If you block him, you will become invisible to him...all conversations etc etc will be deleted. You don't need to change your name to do that.

No, I don't think by doing that you achieve what you want, ie. change the name on the existing message on their end. Because what ever name you changed to (while it reduces your limited chance to change your name by 2, ie change name to something else, then change back to your original name), even for them it's a dead link because you block them; to FB, it's a live link, and FB will link it/alter it to the current name you use.

It only be changed to Facebook User automatically by FB if you deactive yourself. But once you reactivate your deactive account, your name will appear again. The message itself still intact in their Inbox. I don't know if that's true if you delete yourself, can't tried that to proof it.

Your messages cannot be deleted from the inbox unless the other person removes them from their inbox themselves. However, if you block them your name will automatically be changed to "Facebook User". But yes changing your name and then blocking the person will speed up the process.
